Cory's

This view of the Square was taken about 1908.

Notice that Cory's hadn't been built, and that the building now used by Penbode is not yet a butcher.

Wade's Hotel is unmarked except for an 'Autocycle Union' sign.

Cory's, the butchers, have been going for most of the century.

It was run by Mr. Hayman Cory, first at Lyles and then at the Temperance Hotel (now Eastways).

In the early 1920's his son Mr. Charlie Cory, built the present shop.

The business was carried on by his daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Schiller and then their daughter Linda.

The premises are now run by 'Bob the butcher'.
